This piece really isn't finished yet, it still has several problems, so hopefully I'll get them sorted out soon. If anyone knows of a good tutorial on cutting out images with Photoshop Elements 6 let me know. It's still a weak spot in my work.

This is a fan piece for the Wheel of Time series, it shows Rand al'Thor facing Lanfear with several Aiel Warriors. I know Landfear is supposed to dress in white, but hey I can't be to picky with stock.

PS. this is not necessarily based on any scene from the book.

Usually I blow an image up like three times it's normal size, use the "fit on screen" view option, use the lasso tool to the best of my limited ability, then feather it about 20 pixels depending on the size and how smooth it will come out then I copy onto a new layer in case I accidentally cut off a hand or something I can add it back with no probs. LOL.

I'm by no means a master at Photoshop, and I have CS so I don't know how well all that info will work with elements.

I would suggest lightening that background with a screen layer and making the all-over effect a little cartoony to smooth out anything awkward. I do that by flattening all layers, duplicating, gaussian blur until it's blurry but recognizable then set that layer on either multiply or darken, whichever looks the best.

Also the Median filter located in the noise filters gives a nice smoothing affect if you play with it to make the characters look like the photo was snapped where you put them instead of being added to it later.

Try it out just for shits'n'giggles and see if you like what you see.

:D

Thanks a lot for the advise I appreciate it. Yeah elements is a bit different, but probably most of it still applies, though I may have to hunt around a little. Anyway I'll defiantly check it out.

I know that. The photo-manipulation is based off the characters, not events. I just thought it would be a fun concept. Anyway Rand does fight her a couple of times in the books, he just doesn't kill her.

Lol it's ok. I can understand getting a bit heated when someone seems to be getting facts wrong about a favorite book ;)
